HOMESCHOOL THEATER ARTS
Welcome to our new Performing Arts Program for Homeschool familes. Our mission is to provide a fun and growing experience in all aspects of theater. We aim to inspire the future innovators of theater and storytelling, and understand that each student has unique qualities to contribute to our team projects. Our Homeschool students will learn the triple threat skills associated with Musical Theater, as well as tech and stage production knowledge.
At Katy JR Musical Theater, we write and create all our own stories and take them to the stage in lavish productions in a theater. Your students will be included in our big show in May, and will have a complete experience in the creation and execution of a full musical.
WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT FROM OTHER THEATER CLASSES
We bring unique stories, that are age appropriate for young actors and offer moral outlooks on life lessons. We are not a faith based program, but aim to inspire good storytelling and critical thinking awareness in the stories we tell. We embrace the unique qualities in all students, as we work to be authentic in our performances and love to collaborate throughout the process. Our shows are professional in quality and teach commitment as students are able to see the results of their efforts. We give everyone a chance to step into the spotlight depending purely on their own commitment. We only take students up through middle school, so a lot of our leading roles go to younger students. We focus on the team, not the individual recognition. And we bring the star quality out in each student.
WHAT TO EXPECT DURING OUR 12 WEEK SESSION
Classes will be held once a week on Thursdays at our Enrichminds Katy location, from 10.30-Noon. Space is limited to 12 students only. Students will be introduced to acting techniques in the first class as we get to know each other. We will begin learning, songs and move forward into scene work, dialogue, blocking, staging, movement and performance skills over the session. The last week, there will be an additional full cast rehearsal, that will bring all of our classes together. This is a mandatory rehearsal for all of our students in all locations and date and time is TBD. During the 12 weeks, there will be extra opportunities for extra coaching at no extra charge. All students will recieve a folder with their songs, script parts and any other information they need to practice. We let students know the expectations ahead of time, to learn their songs and parts in the show. They get to call the shots on how committed they want to be. There is some memorization required for all students. Our show will be set in May, at World Theater Katy, with one performance only. All students will be fitted for costumes and will keep their props and costumes after the performance.
